James Adam Redfield

James Adam Redfield is Assistant Professor of Biblical & Talmudic Literatures in the Department of Theological Studies at Saint Louis University and Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago Divinity School. His monograph, Adventures of Rabbah & Friends: The Talmud’s Strange Tales and their Readers is forthcoming in 2025 with Brown University Press. Talmud /and/ Philosophy (ed. with Sergey Dolgopolski) appeared with Indiana University Press in 2024. His edition and translation of the Yiddish writings of Mikhah Yosef Berdichevsky, From a Distant Relation, appeared with Syracuse University Press in 2021. Alongside these volumes, he has published a score of articles in related areas of Jewish Studies, comparative literature, philosophy, and the history of anthropology, as well as a few other translations from French, German, Hebrew/Aramaic, and Yiddish.
