Helen Mintz’s translation of Vilna My Vilna: Stories by Abraham Karpinowitz (Syracuse University Press, 2016) garnered three literary awards – the 2016 J.I. Segal Award for Translation, the 2016 Canadian Jewish Literary Award for Translation, and Honourable Mention for the 2017 Sophie Brody Award. She has completed a second collection of translations of Karpinowitz’s Vilna stories. Helen’s translation of Janusz Korczak: Teacher and Child Advocate by Zalmen Wassertzug is under consideration by the University of Poznan Press. A 2014 Yiddish Book Centre Translation Fellow, Helen’s translations have appeared in In Geveb, Jewishfiction.net, and Pakn Treger and her writing about translation in Words without Borders and BC Studies.
