Gennady Estraikh

Gennady Estraikh is a professor at the Skirball Department of Hebrew and Judaic Studies, New York University. He received his doctorate from the University of Oxford. His fields of expertise are Yiddish language and literature, Soviet Jewish history, and Jewish intellectual history. His most recent monograph is Transatlantic Russian Jewishness: Ideological Voyages of the Yiddish Daily Forverts in the First Half of the Twentieth Century (2020). His forthcoming books are Jews in the Soviet Union: A History: After Stalin, 1953-1967 (2022), and The History of Birobidzhan: Building a Soviet Jewish Homeland in Siberia (2023).
