Since 1946 the University of Chicago has been home to one of the most prestigious academic debates in the hoykhe fentster of American academia, the Latke Hamantash Debate. Previous participants in the symposium have included past University of Chicago president Hanna Holborn Gray, philosopher Martha Nussbaum, former Council of Economic Advisers Chairman Austan Goolsbee, Nobel Prize winners Milton Friedman, George Stigler, Leon M. Lederman, and essayist Allan Bloom.
