Yael Horowitz

Yael Horowitz is a PhD student in the Theatre and Performance program at the CUNY Graduate Center. Her research focuses on interwar Yiddish cabaret in Poland, friendship as a site of cultural transmission, and gesture. Yael is a writer, performer, Yiddish dance leader, and puppeteer: with Etai Rogers-Fett and Simkhe Brown she founded the queer Yiddish burlesque troupe the Shmutzik Shmates. She is an integral part of the People's Puppet Parade with Ozzy Gold-Shapiro, Ariel Shapiro, Sarah Bluestein, Weaver and many others. Yael is also a Rescue SCUBA diver.
