Justina Smalkyte

Justina Smalkyte is a scholar of the Holocaust, mass violence, and Central-Eastern European studies. She is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (2024–2025) and an Affiliated Researcher to the Centre for History at Sciences Po Paris. Her research draws on methodologies and approaches from material culture studies, historical anthropology, the history of the body and gender history. She recently co-edited a special issue titled “Gender and Materiality in Central and Eastern Europe in the 20th Century,” published in the journal Connexe: Exploring Post-Communist Spaces (2023).
