David E. Fishman is Professor of History at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. He directs Project Judaica, JTS's research and academic program in Ukraine, in cooperation with the State Archival Service of Ukraine and the Kyiv Mohyla Academy National University. Fishman's book The Book Smuggler's: Partisans, Poets and the Race to Save Jewish Treasures from the Nazis (2017) won the National Jewish Book Award in the Holocaust category, and has been published in seven languages. He is current working on volume II of Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik's Yiddish discourses, Droshes un ksovim, based on original manuscripts.
