Sarah Larsson

Sarah Larsson hosts the podcast Folk Will Save Us, and performs as a vocalist and percussionist with The Nightingale Trio and Jeleche (Minneapolis, MN). She studies music from women’s traditions with master-artists in Europe and the US, including with Sanja Rankovic, Vahidin Omanovic, Susan Gaeta, Ethel Raim, and Lisa Gutkin. Based in Minneapolis, Sarah worked for six years and serves as an advisor to the Somali Museum of Minnesota, the only institution of Somali folklore and traditional culture in North America. Sarah leads singing circles and workshops on Eastern European singing traditions across the US, including presentations at Stanford University, University of Virginia, Folklore Village (WI), and in community in the Twin Cities. Sarah is actively studying Yiddish, and sings music from her roots as a way to deepen conversation about heritage, migration, and identity.
