Nahma Sandrow

Nahma Sandrow wrote the librettos for several award-winning off-Broadway shows, most based on Yiddish material, and (with composer Ben Moore) an opera based on I.B.Singer’s novel Enemies, A Love Story. Many of her translations of Yiddish plays have been published or performed, with another volume of translations of plays and scenes scheduled to appear this winter. She is the author of Vagabond Stars: A World History of Yiddish Theater, as well as articles and books about Yiddish and other theaters, and has written features on a variety of subjects in the NY Times and elsewhere. Her off-Broadway music theater piece Artemisia, Light and Shadow continues to tour.
