Lazer Lederhendler

Lazer Lederhendler is a veteran literary translator specializing in contemporary Québécois fiction and nonfiction. His translations have earned prizes and distinctions in Canada, Britain, and the USA, most recently the 2020 Governor General’s Literary Award. He has taught translation at several colleges and mentored for the Yiddish Book Center’s Translation Fellowship. He grew up in a Bundist and Yiddishist environment in Montreal, where he has lived for most of his life. His current translation projects include a selection of stories from Melekh Ravitsh’s three-volume memoir Dos mayse-bukh fun mayn lebn.
