Jolanta Mickute is senior researcher, scriptwriter, and Jewish historian at the Lost Shtetl Museum. Her research examines Jewish political and cultural issues in Eastern Europe in the interwar period. Her work at the museum focuses on shtetl Jews and their culture in interwar Lithuania, as well as the Holocaust in the area. Her book manuscript (still under preparation) explores Zionist women—many of them outspoken feminists—in Poland's politics and culture before World War II.
Mickute received her Ph.D. from Indiana University-Bloomington and holds master’s degrees from Oxford University and Vilnius University. She has held research fellowships in the United States, Israel, Poland, and Germany. Her work has appeared in Jewish Social Studies, East European Politics and Society, Arts and Humanities in Higher Education, and other publications.
