Alan Mintz

Alan Mintz, z"l, was the Chana Kekst Professor of Hebrew Literature at the Jewish Theological Seminary. A central scholar of Hebrew literature, Mintz wrote about Hebrew autobiography, Hebrew responses to catastrophe, American Hebrew Poetry, S.Y. Agnon, among other topics. He was a founder of Response magazine in the 1960s and 70s and then a founding editor, with David Roskies, of Prooftexts: A Journal of Jewish Literary History in 1981.
