POSITION OVERVIEW
In geveb: A Journal of Yiddish Studies is seeking to hire a new member of our team who will play a key role in building and maintaining the financial stability of our non-profit organization. The position will average between 15-20 hours a month. The work is flexible but organized around key fundraising and development deadlines. This position is for the 2022-2023 academic year (Sept 1-June 30, start and end dates negotiable), with the possibility of renewal. The compensation for this position is $18/hour and it is a remote position.
An ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about working with our Board President and Chief Editor to perform the following tasks (the exact scope and focus of the position will be determined in a conversation with the applicant):
- Plan and write periodical fundraising appeals throughout the year
- Prepare annual grant reports and applications for current foundational supporters
- Prepare acknowledgment letters for grants and individual donors
- Research new potential sources of support; prepare letters of inquiry and grant applications for new sources of support
An ideal candidate will be self-motivated with excellent independent time-management and organizational skills, and will share our passion for In geveb’s mission to build a broad and inclusive community for Yiddish studies.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS
We’re looking for a candidate who is excited to build on the work that we are doing to create an online home for Yiddish studies. The position requires a candidate who:
- Is organized and can manage a variety of projects and deadlines.
- Is a strong writer with experience researching and writing grants and fundraising appeals.
- Is comfortable working remotely and using online tools to organize work, including Google Drive, Basecamp, Mailchimp, and Stripe.
- Is excited to learn about the work In geveb does and think creatively about new sources of support for this work.
EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; Masters in non-profit management or similar preferred
- Prior experience with non-profit fundraising
