Rokhl ("Shoshke") Fleigl-Erlich

Rokhl (“Shoshke”) Fleigl-Erlich (1909–1991) was an active member of the Bund in Bialystok and in Warsaw. She came to the US in 1940 and for the next fifty years served as a research associate of the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research and a member of the faculty of YIVO’s Max Weinreich Center for Advanced Jewish Studies. She taught Yiddish language and literature courses to generations of future scholars, many of whom went on to teach Yiddish language, culture, and history in universities around the world.
