George Savran

George Savran received his PhD from Brandeis University in 1982. He has taught at Wellesley College, Indiana University and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He was director of biblical studies at the Schechter Institute for Jewish Studies in Jerusalem, where he has taught since 1996. His books include Telling and Retelling: Quotation in Biblical Narrative (Indiana University Press, 1989) and Encountering the Divine: Theophany in Biblical Narrative (Sheffield University Press, 2005).
