Constance Pâris de Bollardière

Constance Pâris de Bollardière defended her PhD in History in 2017 at the Ecole des hautes études en sciences sociales in Paris. Her dissertation, supervised by Pr. Nancy L. Green, was entitled “The Everlastingness of Our People”: An American Jewish Socialist Aid in the Yiddish Diaspora, the Jewish Labor Committee in Postwar France (1944-1948). Since 2016, she is a researcher and video archivist at the George and Irina Schaeffer Center for the Study of Genocide, Human Rights and Conflict Prevention at The American University of Paris. Her current research focuses on early Holocaust testimonies and Yiddish culture in the immediate aftermath of the Holocaust.

Rachel Ertel has been one of the most prolific translators from Yiddish to French. In Mémoire du yiddish: Transmettre une langue assassinée [A Memory of Yiddish: Transmitting an Assassinated Language], an interview with the French journalist Stéphane Bou published as a book in 2019, Rachel Ertel, who was born in July 1939, looks back chronologically on her life’s journey.
